Looking For Someone?

We know how important to you it may be to contact someone from your military band days! To catch up on old times or just sharing thoughts from the past! Please send all ‘Looking For Someone’ requests to contact@militarybandsman.com and put ‘Looking For Someone’ in the subject line – we’ll get them up on this message board. Please don’t forget to include your email address, postal address or phone number! And let us know if you find them, so we can remove your post! You may also want to check on your branch of the service’s Facebook group page. In the past, there’s been extensive dialogue concerning the whereabouts of veteran military musicians. We actually have a great success rate of ‘turning up’ vets!

My husband, Forrest Kent Campbell, was in the Third Army Band stationed at Ft. McPherson from 1954-55. At that time he was also a member of a Dixieland group, part of the larger band, that traveled around to all the camps in the southeast entertaining the troops.

Kent played tuba in the full band and string bass in the jazz band. Roger Danz, later band director at the Univ. of Georgia, played trumpet. At one time I had a great picture, obviously a copy of an army publicity picture, of this group.

My husband passed away May 11, 2011 and I am working on a family history. Kent also was a college band director, at the Univ. of Maine, Bradley Univ. and Western Kentucky University from 1971 until 1993 when he retired.

I am trying to find the picture of the jazz band. I will appreciate any help you can give me.
